In a rare event in test cricket, India were bowled out for 46 in the first innings of the opening test against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Thursday. So let’s take a look at IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 2 Highlights.

India suffered a shock after opting to bat at the rainy surface, as Indian batters were seen clueless against visitors’ fast bowlers at the pace friendly conditions during the early hours of the day.

Five of Indian batters were out for a duck, including Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. While captain Rohit Sharma got out for 2.

Rishabh Pant scored the most runs for India with 20. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the second highest with 13.

Matt Henry bagged a fifer while conceding only 13. William O’Rourke grabbed four New Zealand. Southee got the wicket of captain Rohit, as India bowled out for 46 in first innings.

It was India’s third-lowest total in test cricket history, and their lowest at home.

New Zealand, in reply, started on a solid note and added 67 for the first wicket and 180 for 3 overall at stumps on day 2. Rachin Ravindra (22*) and Daryll Mitchell (14*) will start the proceedings on day 3 for New Zealand. The visitors are leading by 134 runs.

Indian pacers are yet to claim a wicket, as all the three breakthroughs were provided by spinners.

Devon Conway’s IPL experience

The left-arm opening batter, Devon Conway, who is part of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, remained the showstopper with his aggressive batting on a surface other batters struggled a bit.

It was mainly due to his exposure to Indian conditions, thanks to his IPL participation. Conway, however, has a sound technique and has the potential to defend against spinners rather than sweep, which overseas players usually play against spinners in sub-continent.

Conway, however, missed his century by nine runs, but his 91 came only 105 deliveries that included eleven fours and three sixes.
