Bowling first, India’s bowlers were relentless from the start. Sneh Rana starred with the ball, picking up 3 for 13 in her eight overs, while Deepti Sharma and Nallapureddy Charani chipped in with two wickets each.

Sri Lanka’s innings never got going after the early dismissal of captain Chamari Athapaththu, who fell cheaply for 7. Hasini Perera and Kavisha Dilhari tried to steady the ship with brief cameos but couldn’t build substantial partnerships. The Sri Lankan batters struggled against India’s disciplined attack, with two run-outs further denting their hopes of posting a competitive total.

Chasing 148, India’s openers gave them a steady start. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, as always, looked fluent but fell after a solid 43 off 46 balls, caught and bowled by Inoka Ranaweera. However, her opening partner Pratika Rawal anchored the innings beautifully, crafting an unbeaten 50 off 62 balls, ensuring India stayed on course.

She was well supported by Harleen Deol, who played a patient knock of 48 not out, helping India cross the finish line comfortably. The duo’s composed partnership ensured that Sri Lanka never found a way back into the contest.

This dominant win not only boosted India’s confidence but also showcased their depth and balance in both departments. With players like Sneh Rana and Pratika Rawal stepping up, India looks poised for bigger challenges ahead in the tri-nation series.
