India beat England by 100 runs in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 in Harare, sealing a record sixth title. A massive batting show and a sharp bowling spell helped India stay in control from start to finish.
Opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played an innings that will be remembered for years. The 14-year-old smashed 175 off 80 balls, breaking several records and setting up India’s biggest-ever total in a U19 World Cup knockout match.
India were put in to bat and had a quiet start, but Sooryavanshi soon flipped the script. He moved from 15 off 17 balls to 50 off 32, then went into overdrive. The boundaries kept coming as he raced past 150 with clean hits all around the ground.
Ayush Mhatre added a steady 53 and gave Sooryavanshi good support. Later, Vedant Trivedi, Vihaan Malhotra and Kanishk Chouhan chipped in with quick runs. Even after Sooryavanshi was dismissed, the lower order kept attacking to push India to 411/9, the first 400-plus score in a U19 knockout.
England began their chase carefully before trying to speed up. Ben Dawkins, Ben Mayes and Thomas Rew found runs, but wickets fell at regular gaps. The pressure kept building as India’s bowlers stayed tight.
The match turned sharply after the 20th over. England slipped from 171/3 to 177/7 in just two overs, a collapse that ended any real hope of a comeback. RS Ambrish led the attack with figures of 3/56, while Mhatre and Deepesh Devendran sparked the decisive spell.
Caleb Falconer fought hard with a fine 115 and shared a 92-run stand with James Minto for the eighth wicket. The partnership delayed the result but never threatened it. England were finally bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs.
India’s win underlined their dominance at this level. A historic team total and a once-in-a-generation knock from Sooryavanshi made this final one of the most one-sided and memorable in U19 World Cup history.
