Whenever there’s a World Cup in the cricketing calendar, the Indian fans start to have light in their eyes and why not when you have the match winners like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
The year 2024 is no different as the World Cup of the most anticipated format is under way in the USA & West Indies.Â
The Indian fans, like always, are keeping their eyes on the Trophy with a glimmer of hope.Â
In the first phase, the Men in Blue have been unbeaten, having reached the Super 8 stage defeating the likes of Pakistan, USA and Ireland.
And yet again, the hopes of the Indian cricket fans are lively.
The way the Indian team defended a total of 119 through attacking display of bowling and sheer commitment from the fielders, the hunger to win the game was all there on the faces of each and every player.Â
The game against USA turned out to be a surprising one because of the way the cricketing minnows rattled the men in green, but the Indian batters stood up and finished off the game with maturity.
Staring from opening the batting to bowling the 20th over, the Indian team have all the resources to put their hands on the beautiful trophy.Â
With a motive of dominating the powerplay, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli with the X-factor and the counter attacker, Rishabh Pant is taking on the bowlers playing at number three.Â
The Indian team have been flexible in terms of Batting arrangements which is clearly communicated among the players which does not only build trust among the players but also keeps them aware of each and every situation.
With guys like Axar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya, the middle order looks strong enough to get over a batting collapse which happens way too often in this kind of format.Â
Even after these guns, having a player like Ravindra Jadeja is nothing short of a blessing, who is experienced enough to set the tone of the game and finish as well.
Talking about the bowling, with more than six bowling options, India are a fully packed bowling unit. And having the expertise of Jasprit Bumrah, who is enough to turn the game with his one over is miraculous.Â
Even in the game against Pakistan, it was Jasprit Bumrah who not only picked three wickets but also created immense pressure on the set batter, Mohammad Rizwan.Â
Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya are doing their jobs perfectly by hitting the right lengths and getting wickets in the middle overs.Â
On slow wickets like the ones in Barbados, the expertise of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and maybe Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will come into the matrix.Â
With Afghanistan once again showcasing why they should not be considered as underdogs, India will look to play their best possible combinations.
Not to forget the last clash between India and Afghanistan with a dramatic double super-over, the Afghan team with their T20 specialists, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Gulbadin Naib, Naveen ul Haq, and Fazal Haq Farooqui, who is turning out to be an amazing frontline bowler, they intend to ask questions to the whole Indian line-up.
Despite all bases covered, there can be a few hurdles in the form of teams like Australia, Afghanistan, England, West Indies and South Africa but this time the Men in Blue are hungry to finish of what they have been looking for since the last 10 years.
