As per the sources, there will be two groups where India will be in group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand.Â
Re-arrival of Champions Trophy:
The cricket world often sees exciting tournaments along with the Champions Trophy. After 2017, the Champions Trophy is coming back. This time, Pakistan is all set to arrange this tournament. They will host a cricket competition for the top eight men’s ODI teams in February and March 2025. This will be the first ICC event in Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup. Pakistan, the reigning champion, won the last competition in 2017.
As per the reports, the opening match of the tournament is set for Karachi, with the semi-finals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, and the final in Lahore. Pakistan is preparing extensively for this event. India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other in Lahore. However, the BCCI has not yet made any official announcements regarding the tournament.
According to reports, the tournament will feature seven games in Lahore, three in Karachi, and five in Rawalpindi. The opening match is scheduled for Karachi, while the semi-finals will be held in Karachi and Rawalpindi. The final will take place in Lahore.
Probable Teams for the Tournament:
According to reports, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has proposed a 15-match schedule, designating Lahore as the venue for all of India’s games for security and logistical reasons. India is placed in Group A with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B includes Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan.
Reports indicate that the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match will be the highlight of the tournament. The PCB has confirmed that Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host all of India’s matches if they travel to Pakistan. An ICC senior board member has now confirmed that the PCB plans to schedule this marquee match for March 1.
