India suffer big injury scare as Hardik Pandya’s shot injures Mohammed Siraj

Another injury threat for Team India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Ahead of their clash with South Africa for the Super 8 fixture, Mohammed Siraj received an injury.

During the nets, the pacer was up against Hardik Pandya. According to reports, Siraj suffers the blow as the ball hit by Hardik Pandya lashed in the knees. The bowler was immediately in pain. Support staff came to provide some medical support as well.

How Mohammed Siraj injured himself

The injury of Mohammed Siraj can be a major blow for Team India, as he is among the top pacers who deserve to be in the team since the injury of Harshit Rana. BCCI did not name Mohammed Siraj initially in the T20 World Cup 2026 squad. Because of the sudden injury of Harshit Rana, the Hyderabad-born joined the camp for the flagship tournament.

Before being dropped from the playing XI, Siraj bowled well against the United States. It was the first match of the tournament for Team India, and the bowler concluded with a figure of 3/29.

The visible pain on Siraj’s face was the proof that the blow was real. Hardik struck the ball hard, and it directly went to the other end of the bowler’s end, where the seamer was. As the ball was travelling at a quick pace, the fast bowler did not find sufficient time to cover himself. Though, there is no official confirmation about the blow.

Ishan Kishan also got a niggle a few days before

It is not the first time when an injury threat gave shivers to the Indian cricket fans. In the recent past, Ishan Kishan also got hurt himself during a net session. Though it was not serious, Ishan Kishan continues to shine as per the expectations.

But the health-related issues of Abhishek Sharma were a real threat for the team. Before the opening match of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, the opener affected his stomach, which might have dented his form.

Abhishek Sharma also offered tension to the team

Because of the upset stomach, the left-handed opener missed the India vs Namibia match as well. Sharma made his return through the February 15th match, which was against Pakistan.

After playing 3 matches in the 2026 T20 World Cup, he is yet to register his first run in the competition.

India will next face South Africa for their next T20 World Cup 2026 fixtures. It will be a Super 8 match for the Men in Blue on February 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
