India to host ICC champions trophy? Reports make a huge claim

The fate of Champions Trophy 2025 is something which has made the world cricket uneasy since there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding it. Once the BCCI, then the Indian cricket board, told the ICC that it would not send his team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, the tournament found its future in quandary. Even the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a hardline position and has dismissed any such ideas of a ‘hybrid model’ wherein certain games, such as that of India’s, would take place at a third country. It has also reached out to the ICC pertaining to the knowledge of India answering ‘no’ to sending the teams for Pakistan’s hosting of the tournament.

Sri Lanka, Dubai and South Africa have all been thrown around in terms of being the neutral ground. As per a PTI report, no other such talks happened of late regarding the continent of South Africa.

Of late, a video news report by Sports Tak has stated that inside the BCCI, it has been deliberated that if Pakistan continues to take a hard stand and does not agree to a hybrid model and opts out of the Champions Trophy, then India may come forward to host the tournament. The report further established that in the event Pakistan opts out, the ICC may be forced to compensate a lot of money to the broadcasters because of the India Vs Pakistan match being a big fixture of any cricket tournament.

The report further noted that this conversation is in its infancy and no decision has been reached.

Amidst all this, Cricbuzz wrote that a ‘key official’ informed the press ICC could have treaded more ahead of the events.

The publication provided a more elaborate explanation as well. India have not travelled to Pakistan for a long period owing to some diplomatic clashes. When the scheduling of the Champions Trophy was distributed among all, and well ahead of time, no one objected. Cricbuzz also mentioned that the BCCI did not express any official objections regarding the Champions Trophy during the 12 ICC Board meetings held after that.
