India’s Senior Men’s cricket team is supposed to travel to neighbouring Bangladesh for a multi-format tour, where the arch-rivals are set to contest in three One-Dayers and as many T20 Internationals as well. The tour was recently announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and was to take place following India‘s five-match Test series against England. However, due to an unforeseen geopolitical turmoil in India following the Pahalgam terror attacks, the tour to Bangladesh may be withheld.
According to The Times of India, the white-ball series may get cancelled despite being a part of the international calendar due to the development of the terrorism activities in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, where Pakistan is reported to be the linchpin behind the same. A close source has suggested for a likely cancellation of the Bangladesh series due to the same.
“The tour is part of the calendar, but nothing is final yet. There is a bright possibility of India not touring Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is because of the current situation,” a source in the report was quoted as saying.
It is further understood that the upcoming Asia Cup, due to take place in September, is also in the line to get postponed for the time being, however, nothing can be confirmed as yet.
