On the first day of the first Test against Bangladesh here on Thursday, India recovered well from early hiccups to end day one at 339 for six against Bangladesh in the opening Test of the two-match series.
Ashwin brought up his half-century in the 60th over in only 58 balls. He would prove to be the game changer for India along with Jadeja as he wouldn’t stop in the final session of the day as well and would go on to score a spectacular century in the 78th over off just 108 balls.
The counter attacking soventh-wicket partorship of 195 runs off 227 balls between Ravichandran Ashwin (102 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (86 not out) took Bangladesh by surprise. Ravichandran Ashwin dazzled with his sixth Test century, working in tandem with Ravindra Jadeja to lead India out of trouble and record a commanding 339 for six.
Bangladeshi bowler stole the show on the first day of the first Test match against India at this venue with a three-wicket burst in the opening session that shook a renowned batting line-up that included giants Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill.
Before Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant shared a half-century partnership to spearhead India’s comeback in the first Test session in Chennai, Hasan Mahmud made early inroads into the Indian batting. Mahmud got off to a great start, taking three early wickets, as Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to bowl under the cloudy conditions. Day 1 lunch saw India reach 88/3 thanks to the uninterrupted 54-run partnership between Jaiswal and Pant.
