India will Verse England in Historic Test at Lord’s

The most iconic stadium in the world, also known as Home of Cricket, Lord’s Stadium, is set to host its first-ever women’s Test match in 2026. This news was announced by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on 22 August. India and England versed each other in a one-off women’s Test in December 2023 in Navi Mumbai.

The match ended in an uneven contest with no fancy turning point as India absolutely obliterated England by 347 runs.

Coming to Lord’s, the ground has surely hosted women’s matches, but a women’s Test match will be for the first time in this ground.

“It has also been confirmed that India Women will return in 2026 for a one-off Test match at Lord’s – the first-ever Women’s Test to be staged at the Home of Cricket. England Women have played white-ball matches at Lord’s for the past three years, with another scheduled next year, but it will be the first time the ground has hosted a Women’s Test match,” ECB said in a statement.

Indian women’s team will tour England in 2025 to play the test series. The team is to face England in 5 T20Is starting 28 June. after the T20Is, the team will face England in 3-match ODI series starting 16 July. The women’s Test series will go hand-to-hand with the men’s Test series.

“I’m also delighted we can confirm that India Women will return in 2026 to take on England Women in the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s. It will be a truly special occasion, and one of real significance,” said Richard Gould, ECB Chief Executive Officer.

“We are thrilled that Lord’s will stage a women’s Test match for the first time. Women’s cricket is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and the Club is proud to support this growth,” Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC, Guy Lavender said.
