Indian Participants in Paris Olympics 2024:

On Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced the confirmation of 117 athletes and seven reserves for India’s participation in the Paris Olympics, commencing on July 26. Alongside them, 140 support staff and officials have also been cleared by the sports ministry. Notably, shot put national women’s record holder Abha Khatua, initially selected via world rankings quota, has been unexpectedly omitted from the final list published by World Athletics, marking a surprising development in the team composition.

Diverse Indian Contingent for Olympics:

Athletics will lead the contingent with the largest representation of 29 athletes, including 11 women and 18 men. Following closely are shooting with 21 athletes and hockey with 19. Table tennis will be represented by eight players, while badminton features a seven-member group including two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu. Wrestling, archery, and boxing will each field six athletes. Golf will have four participants, tennis three, and swimming and sailing will each send two athletes. Equestrian, judo, rowing, and weightlifting will each be represented by one athlete.
