Indian Government denies permission to blind cricket team for their participation in the T 20 World Cup in Pakistan

As per the announcement made by the Indian Central government on Tuesday, the Indian blind cricket team will not participate in T20 World Cup as the government has refused to allow its players to go to Pakistan on account of security issues.

The Indian team was scheduled to travel to the neighbouring country via the Wagah border on Wednesday ahead of the event which is to be held from November 23 to December 3.

The Indian blind cricket team had received a No Objection Certificate on behalf of sports ministry for participating in the event but could not receive approval from MEA for some reason.

“We have been informed informally, that the blind team shall not be allowed to go. We were to leave for Wagah border tomorrow. But so far no clearance has come from the ministry officials. So, we are a bit let down,” Shailendra Yadav, General Secretary of Indian Blind Cricket Association (IBCA) told PTI.

“They are saying when the mainstream cricket team is not safe how can you be safe there. We accept the decision but for what reason wait till the very end, why not communicate it to us a month or 25 days ago. There is a process,” Yadab further said.
