Indian-born Irish all-rounder Simi Singh is currently in critical condition and is set to undergo a liver transplant in Gurgaon, India. The 37-year-old cricketer has been battling severe liver failure, which has raised concerns among fans and the cricketing community.
Simi Singh’s health issues
Simi’s health issues came to light recently when he was admitted to Medanta hospital in Gurgaon for urgent medical attention. Doctors have indicated that a liver transplant is necessary for his recovery, and preparations for the procedure are underway.
Simi’s wife Agamdeep Kaur will be donating her liver, as confirmed by the Irish media.
“Some five to six months back, when he was in Dublin, Ireland, Simi developed a strange fever that kept coming and going,” his father-in-law Parvinder Singh was quoted as saying to the Times of India (TOI).
“He got himself examined there, but nothing conclusive came out in the check-ups. The medical professionals there said that they couldn’t find the underlying cause and therefore they wouldn’t start medication…The process was getting delayed, and his health was deteriorating, so we decided to get him treated in India for ‘better medical attention’,” added Parvinder.
The cricketing fraternity has rallied around Simi, with many expressing their support and sending prayers for his swift recovery.
