Indian skipper Rohit Sharma becomes father for the second time: Reports

Indian cricket supporters and the management of the squad will rejoice in the news as

It has now been reported that Rohit Sharma has become a father to a baby boy.

As per the report in Hindustan Times (HT), Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh welcomed their son on Friday. The Indian skipper has not yet officially made the announcement about the news.

This is bound to be a huge positive news considering that this means that the Indian captain and opening batter will be rejoining the side in good time before the start of the first Test against Australia in Perth.

The members of the Indian Test team are in Australia from where the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which consists of five Tests, is deductively likely to determine the fortunes of the Indian team for the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

As for India, it would be a very major boost for the team if the skipper was able to play for the whole duration of the five-match series. The seasoned batsman will be looking to make a significant impact at the top of the order against their opponents.

Media reports indicate that Rohit has been practicing in Mumbai. He had also previously said that he may not be fit for the first Test against Australia. However, the Indian team may view this as a huge boost going into the series set in Australia.

Being the captain of the Indian team, he is under severe pressure following the recent humiliation of a series whitewash at home against New Zealand. Also, there was questioning of Rohit’s form after he scored an insignificant knock against the Kiwis.

But, then again, it performs as a source of inspiration for the Indian captain, who could well regain his form for the arduous task against the Australians. Rohit for instance, will have the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja being the senior most members of the side, will aim to be back to their best and may be retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for a third consecutive time on tour.
