Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi found himself in the middle of a storm after he made controversial comments about the Indian Army following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. The attack, which resulted in the tragic loss of 28 civilian lives, ignited a war of words between Afridi and former India opener Shikhar Dhawan.
Afridi, during an appearance on Pakistani television, questioned the efficiency of India’s security forces, suggesting that they had failed to protect the civilians in the attack. His comments were immediately met with anger from Dhawan, who took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to respond.
In his tweet, Dhawan didn’t hold back, saying,
“Kargil mein bhi haraya tha, already itna gire hue ho aur kitna giroge, bewajah comments pass karne se acha hai apne desh ki taraqqi mai dimag lagao @SAfridiOfficial. Humein hamari Indian Army par bohot garv hai. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!” (We defeated you in Kargil, too. You have already fallen so low; how much lower will you go? Instead of making baseless comments, it would be better if you focused on your country’s development. We are very proud of our Indian Army. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!)

Afridi, not one to back down from a confrontation, quickly responded with a sarcastic remark: “Chouro jeet haar ko, aao tumhey chae pilata hun Shikhar. #FantasticTea” (Forget about wins and losses, I will host you for tea Shikhar).

However, Afridi’s response did not sit well with many Indians, especially given the ongoing anger over the terrorist attack. Social media was flooded with angry comments, with users criticizing the former cricketer for his disregard of the tragedy and for attempting to downplay the seriousness of the situation.

Pakistani are still stuck with that Fantastic Tea as their one achievement while getting their a$$ beaten by India multiple times.
