India’s Cricket Strategy Now Bold and Brave

The aggressive style of the India women’s squad was discussed by Harmanpreet Kaur. She acknowledged that in the past, when things did not go as planned, the crew would get upset. Harmanpreet spoke candidly on India’s shift in strategy from being defensive to being aggressive. The captain thought back on India’s transition to bold decision-making and gutsy cricketing. The Indian squad is competing in the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup right now. With two straight victories over Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, the reigning champions are off to a fantastic start.

“In the last 7-8 years, our team’s performance has been very good. Even before that, we used to play cricket, but we weren’t able to win so many tournaments, and we weren’t able to play such impressive cricket. So we always discuss that if there are two options, we will always choose the aggressive option. Before, it felt like we were playing a little scared cricket.,” Harmanpreet told Star Sports.

“When things didn’t go according to our plan, we used to get scared very quickly, but now we play a little brave cricket, so we make brave decisions. With time, we have forced people to come to the stadium through our performance.”

In the ninth iteration of the competition, the Indian squad has already advanced to the Women’s Asia Cup semi-final and is poised to win the trophy and defend the championship for the eighth time. The Indian women’s team has so far had great success in the home series. They were successful in all three of their Test matches against South Africa, Australia, and England. The Indian women’s squad is yet unable to win an ICC trophy, nevertheless. They have nearly won the women’s ODI World Cup in 2005 and 2017, as well as the 2020 T20 World Cup final.

With the Women’s T20 World Cup coming up in October and the ODI World Cup held at home the following year, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team will be looking to snap their title drought.
