India’s probable XI for Pune Test versus New Zealand

New Zealand cricket team got the better of Team India in the first Test match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Kiwis completely swept the Indians under their carpet in the first innings by bowling the hosts out for 46 runs, which marked India’s lowest ever total in Test cricket at home.

Although India put up a fight and resilience in the second innings, it wasn’t enough as New Zealand won the game by 8 wickets to take the first lead in the three match Test series. It was also New Zealand’s first ever Test win in Indian soil in 36 years.

The second Test match will kick off on October 24, Thursday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. It is a must win match for India to stay alive in the series. It remains to be seen how Rohit Sharma and his team will go about their work in the second match.

Team India are expected to make some changes in their playing XI. India’s bowling attack completely struggled in the Test opener and may see some fresh faces this time around. Let’s take a look at India’s probable XI for the second Test against New Zealand.

Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal

There will be no change in the opening slot as skipper Rohit Sharma will open the proceedings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. The right and left hand combination is expected to deliver the goods in the upcoming Test match.

The duo got off to a terrific start in the second innings of the 1st Test match in Bengaluru recently by adding a 74-run partnership. However, Jaiswal failed to capitalize on the momentum before he fell prey to New Zealand’s bowling attack.

The youngster will be looking forward to making his presence count in the upcoming Test match. Rohit Sharma scored a terrific half-century in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test. Unfortunately, he was dismissed in a strange manner after getting well set at the crease.
