After a long limited over schedule, Team India is returning to the longest format in the next match. In September, Team India is all set to face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. Before that, some of the big names of Indian cricket are featuring in the prestigious Buchi Babu Tournament. Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sarfaraz Khan are representing Mumbai in this tournament. India’s stars struggled in their final group-stage match, failing to chase down a daunting target of 510 against TNCA XI.
The Indian Stars Struggled:
As Team India is returning in the longer format, Indian crickets are participating in the Buchi Babu Tournament. Under Sarfaraz Khan’s leadership, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer are playing for Mumbai in this tournament. In their final group stage match, they are facing TNCA XI. In that match, the Mumbai side faced some real struggles.
In the first innings of the match, the TNCA side put on a total of 379 on the board. While chasing the target, Mumbai was all out in just 156 runs. That was a huge setback for them. Star players like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Sarfaraz Khan were seen struggling.
After surviving a scare on his first ball, Shreyas Iyer tried a pull shot but was caught at short midwicket. Sai Kishore celebrated the crucial wicket. Iyer departed scoring only 2 runs. Mumbai’s troubles deepened as Suryakumar Yadav managed only 30 runs. Captain Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for just 6 runs. That put pressure on the team.

Sai Kishore Shined Bright:
In the first innings, Sai Kishore performed exceptionally well and managed an amazing 5-wicket haul. His bowling brilliance damaged Mumbai’s batting unit in the first innings. After delivering this exciting performance, Sai Kishore opened up.
He said, “The reason why I am participating in the Buchi Babu Tournament is because I needed some game time before the Duleep Trophy. Thus, I worked extra hard at the nets, and thankfully, it has paid off. I wish to continue with the same momentum in the Duleep Trophy too.”
Lokeshwar S led TNCA XI’s second innings with a top score of 73, supported by Athish SR’s 57 and Mokit Hariharan RS’s 52. They posted a total of 286. Athish and Lokeshwar put together a 142-run opening partnership before spinner Musheer Khan dismissed Athish. Despite this, TNCA XI’s 223-run lead from the first innings provided them with a comfortable cushion.
