While WWE creative is reportedly planning to book a record number of women’s matches for WrestleMania 42 this April, with six being the “magic number” currently circulating, the company will begin rolling out the rest of the matches in the coming weeks. As of today, two matches have been made official for the Las Vegas event: Stephanie Vaquer will defend her Women’s World Championship against Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan, and Jade Cargill will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Elimination Chamber winner Rhea Ripley.
In addition to the world title bouts, it is widely expected that AJ Lee and Becky Lynch will end their ongoing rivalry at the event. Nia Jax and Lash Legend are also expected to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Women’s United States Title Status and Creative Pivot
The status of the Women’s United States Championship has become a primary point of discussion following reports from Ibou of the Self Made Sessions podcast. Since Chelsea Green became the inaugural champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024, the title has changed hands four times but has never been defended on a Premium Live Event—including the all-women’s Evolution show.
According to Ibou, the original plan featured Giulia defending the title in a triple threat match against Tiffany Stratton and Jordynne Grace. However, a pivot may be needed after Grace suffered an ankle injury during a match against Alba Fyre for WWE Main Event last week. While it is currently unclear how long Green will be sidelined, WWE may be forced to move toward a singles bout between Giulia and Stratton.
Giulia’s Road to Las Vegas
Giulia has spent the past several weeks attempting to secure her spot on the WrestleMania card through alternative means. She tried to compete in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match and going after the Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Kiana James, with both not working out in her favor.
