BCCI’s financial juggernaut: Breaking records and building reserves

If so, the financial health of the BCCI, reflective of its status as the world’s richest and most influential cricket body, has only become stronger. A bank balance for the board, going up to ₹16,493.2 crore at the end of FY23 from ₹10,991.29 crore in the earlier year, along with a surplus for FY23, going up by 38 percent to ₹3,727 crore, very much underlined the strong position the BCCI is in on the financial front to undertake initiatives pertaining to global cricket and development at the grassroots level.

Coupled with this, the BCCI diversified into several other avenues, among which was the first-ever edition of the Women’s Premier League in 2023, adding a surplus windfall of ₹377 crore. WPL earned ₹636 crore from media rights, franchise fees, and sponsorships, against expenditure of ₹259 crore. This addition cements the fact that the BCCI is certainly on a clear path to dominance and financial juggernaut status across the cricketing world.
