The IPL 2025 has witnessed some thrilling matches, while the majority of them being one-sided encounters. The good aspect of the 18th edition of the league has been the fact that the bowlers are in the game and are making a huge difference to the result of matches. There are instances where the teams seemed done and out of the game, only to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.

Such moments have been etched in the memories of the fans, which have made the viewing experience great. They not just entertained the fans but also helped their teams to win the match out of nowhere. While some of them were due to brilliance with the ball, others were due to the special knocks by the batters, while others were some unique moments.

Rajasthan Royals needed 18 runs in the last two overs to beat RCB in their backyard with a well-set Dhruv Jurel in the middle. Josh Hazlewood bowled a terrific 19th over, where he conceded just one run and picked the wickets of Jurel and Jofra Archer. It helped RCB to win their first match of the season at their home – the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Vipraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma pulled off an unlikely win for DC against LSG to start their campaign in the IPL 2025. Chasing 210, DC were reduced to 113/6 after 12.3 overs. Nigam and Sharma put on a partnership of 55 runs in just 22 balls. Ashutosh’s 66*(31) took DC home, while Nigam’s 39(15) was highly helpful for the 2020 finalists.

Chasing a total of just 112 runs, KKR were 72/3 after 9 overs and needed just 40 runs in 11 overs. What followed was absolutely unbelievable, as KKR lost their next 7 wickets for just 23 runs. It all began with Angkrish Raghuvnashi’s dismissal, who looked in a good touch and scored 37 runs in 28 balls.

Chasing a mammoth total of 246 runs, SRH needed a great start against PBKS. While they eventually got it, Abhishek Sharma was lucky to get away with a dropped catch, and a catch which was taken off a no-ball. As Yash Thakur had dismissed Sharma, the umpire called it a No-Ball. Abhishek went on to score a sensational 141 off mere 55 deliveries – the best by an Indian batter in the league’s history.

Chasing 206 against MI, DC were sailing through the run chase with 135/2 after 11.3 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Karun Nair, who made 89 from just 40 deliveries, perished, courtesy of a peach delivery from Mitchell Santner. Later in the 19th over of the match, DC needed 14 runs from 9 balls with 3 wickets in hand. A hat-trick of run-outs ensured MI won the match by 12 runs. DC lost their last 8 wickets for 58 runs.

Chasing 181, RR were sailing through with 156/2 after 17 overs. The home side needed just 25 runs in the last 3 overs with set Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle. Avesh Khan bowled a brilliant 18th over, where he dismissed both batters and conceded just 5 runs. He also bowled the 20th over and conceded just 6 runs including the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer. LSG beat RR by 2 runs, as Khan conceded just 11 runs and picked 3 wickets at the death.

Batti8ng first, LSG posted a good total of 238 runs on the board at Eden Gardens. Chasing the total, KKR were off to a flier, as they scored 162/2 after 12.5 overs. The home side needed just 77 runs in the last 7.1 overs when Rahane was dismissed after a brilliant 61(35). It triggered a huge collapse, as KKR lost their way and conceded 4 wickets in the next 19 balls. LSG eventually won the match by 4 runs.

Batting first, PBKS posted 243 runs on the board against GT in Ahmedabad. Chasing a huge total, the home side was well in the chase with their top 4 batters stepping up. Vijaykumar Vyshak was introduced at a time when PBKS needed economical overs. He bowled three of them and helped the visiting side to clinch a win by 11 runs, where he stopped someone like Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford from going bonkers.


Mitchell Starc’s last over to take the DC vs RR match to the Super Over

RR needed 9 runs in the last 6 balls of the match against DC to claim a win, with Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer in the middle. The left-arm pacer bowled extremely well at the death and conceded just 8 runs to take the game to the Super Over. Even in the Super Over, Starc conceded 11 runs and helped his side to win. The Aussie pacer was adjudged Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling display for the Axar Patel-led side.


Nehal Wadhera’s cameo in the rain-affected game against RCB

The 34th match of the IPL 2025 between RCB and PBKS was affected by rain and was hence reduced to 14 overs per side. RCB posted 95 runs after being invited to bat. Chasing the total on a tricky surface, PBKS was reduced to 53/4. That’s when Nehal Wadhera stepped up and scored an unbeaten 33*(19), which helped PBKS beat RCB by 5 wickets
