The latest news about the highly expected IPL 2025 Auction says that the big auction will happen in the last week of November.
The BCCI hasn’t announced the exact date and place for the auction yet, but many reports suggest that cities in the Middle East might host the big event.
According to Sportstar, the Mega Auction is likely to happen in Riyadh around November 24-25. On the other hand, TOI reports that Dubai, which hosted last year’s event, might be chosen again, with the auction happening around November 30.
No matter where it happens, the teams are already busy planning their player retentions before the October 31 deadline.
There’s a lot of excitement about this, as several teams have reportedly already decided on which players they want to keep.
A report in Indian Express on Thursday says that Rohit Sharma, who has played the most games for Mumbai Indians and is the top run scorer in IPL history, is expected to be one of the four players kept by the team. Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav are also likely to stay with MI.
ESPNCricinfo also mentioned that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will keep Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, and Abhishek Sharma before the big 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
The new rule about uncapped players gives Chennai Super Kings a chance to keep their star player, ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni.
The total amount available for the IPL 2025 auction is set at INR 120 crore, and the overall salary limit has increased to INR 146 crore. Importantly, each player will now receive a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs, which is a new addition to the IPL.
The teams can decide how they want to select their players for Retentions and Right to Match, choosing between Indian or foreign players. However, they can have a maximum of five experienced players (both Indian and overseas) and a maximum of two new players among their six retentions/RTMs.
