iRacing Arcade to add free Caterham 7 car

In an upcoming update, a new car and alternate track layouts are inbound.

One of the critiques put to iRacing Arcade – a cute, accessible, racing spin-off released earlier this month – was a relative lack of vehicles.

A new vehicle has now been confirmed for an imminent release, in the form of the Caterham Seven.

“One of the most common things we’ve seen is the desire for more cars and tracks. iRacing Arcade was built as a foundation that allows us to keep expanding the game, and adding more content has always been part of the plan,” said Original Fire Games, the developers, post-launch via social media.

“Players can expect an update in the near future that will include some additional free content, with even more free cars and tracks coming alongside the console release later this year.”

This begins with the diminutive open-top British sports car, known for its light weight and Lotus lineage.

The game currently features a mix of licensed and unlicensed content, this appearing to be the former.

In a social media post, the creators also stated that this update will be free and coming ‘soon’. It also confirmed that alternate track layouts will be part of the patch, although not which ones.

Speculatively, of the included circuits, we think Miami International Autodrome, Circuit Paul Ricard and Bahrain International Circuit would be contents for the differing routes.

It is expected that all additional content between now and the summer will also be inlcuded in the upcoming console releases.
