Kagiso Rabada who recently served a provisional suspension as he tested positive for the use of a recreational drug and left IPL 2025 midway. According to the South African Institute for Drug Free Sports (SAIDS) he has been cleared to participate in IPL and various tournaments, which brings us to the question. Is Kagiso Rabada playing in IPL 2025?
What had actually happened?
Kagiso Rabada had to leave IPL 2025 after testing positive for a recreational drug during the SA20 league which was scheduled in early 2025. Initially, his IPL franchise, Gujarat Titans, stated that he returned to South Africa due to a “personal matter.” However, it was later confirmed that Rabada had received a one-month provisional suspension. The South African fast bowler admitted his mistake later, expressed deep regret, and apologized publicly through a statement issued by the South African Cricketers’ Association.
He also completed an education and awareness program on substance use. Gujarat Titans’ Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, praised Rabada for his honesty and confirmed that he is now fully available for selection. With his suspension served, when can get back on the ground and start pacing at the pitch remains the ultimate question.
Will Kagiso Rabada play match against Mumbai Indians
The point here to note is Rabada has been seen practicing around with his fellow pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna at the Wankhede Stadium. Although he hasn’t had a full fledged practice with his squad, there are chances of us seeing him bowl against the Mumbai Indians.
Gujarat Titans are currently placed at the fourth spot in IPL points table, with 14 points to their name and a 4-match schedule cushion for them to gain themselves a playoff spot. However it’s not an easy task against the in-form and dominant Mumbai Indians who will also be aiming to qualify for the playoffs against Gujarat Titans.
