AMD has officially unveiled FSR Redstone and, in addition to the new features, has also released the list of games that will receive support for the features by the end of the year. However, the fine print is also important here.

On December 10, 2025, AMD put its announcement into action and released the new feature package called “Redstone.” These are partly revisions of familiar FSR features and partly entirely new ideas.

However, all four components of the Redstone package have one thing in common: they all rely on artificial intelligence in some form. AMD promises better image quality and higher frame rates. By the end of the year, more than 200 titles are expected to benefit from Redstone – but not all of them will receive every feature.p>

Four FSR features for a Redstone hallelujah

Let’s first take a look at the new features AMD is introducing with Redstone:

  • FSR Upscaling: A neural network replaces the classic upscaling algorithm and intelligently scales the internal render resolution up to monitor resolution, adaptively orienting itself to image edges and thus preserving significantly sharper details than FSR 3.1.
  • FSR Frame Generation: This is an AI-supported intermediate image calculation that provides the most stable possible increase in frame rate by analyzing motion vectors, depth information, and calculated optical flow.
  • FSR Ray Regeneration: A specialized AI model acts as an intelligent denoiser for ray tracing images with a low sample rate, actively reconstructing missing details by understanding geometry, material properties, and light propagation, while significantly reducing motion noise better than heuristic filters.
  • Neural Radiance Caching: The neural model learns the spatial and physical light relationships of a scene and predicts indirect lighting after just the second ray bounce instead of calculating it completely—this should enable global ray tracing with significantly reduced samples.

Since Redstone is explicitly an extension of FSR 4, a Radeon graphics card from the RX 9000 series is required, as before. In addition, you must have at least version 25.12.1 of the Adrenalin software installed for the driver – you can download it from this link.

AMD makes it complicated

The only question that remains is which games will actually be equipped with the Redstone set. AMD itself states on the official website that more than 200 games will receive the new features by the end of the year. However, there is a small caveat here: this only refers to the new upscaling variant.

FSR Frame Generation is currently available in around 40 games, which we have marked with an asterisk in the list below.

The new Ray Regeneration feature has only been seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 so far, which marked the debut of the new Redstone feature, so to speak. It is not yet known when new titles will be added.

The fourth part of the Redstone toolkit, Neural Radiance Caching, will not be featured in any finished games this year. However, according to AMD, there is still a way to see the new feature in action: the demo version of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has the AMD feature. New support will be available next year.
