Sanju Samson is most likely going to retain a spot in India’s T20I squad, though Ishan Kishan might have to wait before he hears a call in the national team. Sanju was a part of the 2024 T20 World Cup team.
He retained his spot for the series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, but struggled in Sri Lanka and faced back-to-back ducks.
It has been reported that Sanju might stay as the preferred name if to give a spot in the T20I team for the Bangladesh series. Ishan’s name has been selected for the Irani Cup squad and is not expected to earn a T20 call.
The report adds that Sanju might get asked to open the innings yet again. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal might be put to rest as a new opening partner might get taken to play with the right-handed batsman.
The regular players of Test team might get rested for the Bangladesh T20Is as India is set to host New Zealand in three Tests before leaving for Australia.
Though nothing is confirmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad might also miss out a spot in Indian team. The opener has been named the captain of Rest of India squad.
