Via press release, the Atlantic 10 has confirmed the hiring of Dan Leibovitz as the next commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference. First reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on March 15th, Leibovitz replaces outgoing Commissioner Bernadette McGlade, who announced her retirement on November 19th after 18 years leading the league. Leibovitz’ term will begin on May 4th.
Basketball was at the forefront of the A10’s press statement, which described Leibovitz as an “outstanding basketball professional who brings 30 years of coaching and leadership experience to the Atlantic 10.”
Leibovitz enters the position with a decade of conference leadership under his belt. From 2016 to 2023, Leibovitz served as the Associate Commissioner of Men’s Basketball for the SEC. Before taking the job with the A10, he has been the Senior Associate Commissioner of Men’s Basketball for the Big East.
Before working in the front office, Leibovitz spent nearly 20 years in various coaching positions throughout Division I and the NBA, including a stint as Hartford’s head coach from 2006 to 2010.
