Jade Cargill is shocked by her opponent at WrestleMania 42

WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill is doing media in Chicago to promote the Elimination Chamber event that is scheduled to take place at the United Center on Saturday night (Feb. 28).

One of the matches on the card is an Elimination Chamber match that features Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, Kiana James, Raquel Rodriguez, and Alexa Bliss. The winner of the match earns a shot at Cargill’s title at WrestleMania 42 in April.

During an interview with The Chicago Lead, it definitely caught my attention when Jade could only remember the name of one of these women while trying to hype up the PLE.

“Oh man, they’re gonna see a studded show. I mean, we have CM Punk in the house. We have so many women. We have the Elimination Chamber with Rhea, with, oh my gosh, I’m trying to think [who else]…”

I don’t know if WWE creative has already decided on a winner of the chamber match and/or informed the wrestlers about it. It’s probably a case of me reading too much into it, but I wonder if the reason why Ripley is the only name Jade can come up with is because she already knows her WrestleMania opponent, and it’s not those other five women.

Jade didn’t state a preference for her WrestleMania opponent, but she did admit being surprised that it won’t be “The Queen” Charlotte Flair, who was upset by Kiana James in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match last week on SmackDown.

“To go off guard a little bit, I actually thought I was gonna take on Charlotte. So I’m really shocked to see that last Friday she didn’t qualify.

It doesn’t matter. It could be Asuka. It could be Rhea. It could be Tiffany. I already beat Tiffany. It could be whomever. Like I said, it doesn’t matter, because I’m gonna come out on top as the WWE women’s champion at WrestleMania.”

Am I reading too much into Jade’s forgetfulness about the participants in the women’s Elimination Chamber match? Does Rhea Ripley stand out as the favorite to challenge Cargill for the gold at WrestleMania? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
