Jade Cargill Wanted Different WrestleMania Opponent Than Rhea Ripley

As Jade Cargill gets ready for a big title defense at WrestleMania 42 against Rhea Ripley, she shared something surprising. Mami was never her dream opponent.

Cargill won the WWE Women’s Championship from Tiffany Stratton in November 2025 and has defended it quite a few times since. But facing Ripley on WWE’s biggest stage will be her toughest test so far. Ripley earned this title shot by winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber match in Chicago.

This match is being seen as a clash between two physically dominant stars. Cargill herself said it’s the biggest match of her career. However, she also believes the former Judgment Day star hasn’t faced someone like her before.

Jade Cargill Names Charlotte Flair As Her Dream Opponent for WrestleMania

In an interview with Complex, Jade Cargill talked about her upcoming WrestleMania 42 match. While she praised Ripley as one of WWE’s top stars, she said she always imagined facing Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania, since Flair is seen as one of the greatest women’s wrestlers ever

“One of the dream matches that I wanted to have, amongst others, was Charlotte Flair. And I thought that’s actually the opponent I was gonna face at Mania was the likes of Charlotte Flair. We’ve been teasing it for so long, and I think that’s a money-making match. I mean, she’s a queen in her own right and I am as well, and I think we have such similar aesthetics sometimes that I think it’s more of a like, who’s who? Like, who’s really like that queen? Or whatever you want to say. I didn’t really dream book Rhea as being the person I would’ve had my Mania match with this year,” Cargill said.

Even so, Cargill made it clear she is taking Ripley very seriously. She called her “the top girl” in WWE right now. At the same time, the WWE Women’s Champion sounded very confident and said she plans to leave WrestleMania still champion and unbeaten.

Cargill’s WWE journey has been very fast. She made her WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 40, where she teamed with Bianca Belair and Naomi to beat Damage CTRL. At WrestleMania 41, she stepped into singles action and defeated Naomi. Now, in her third WrestleMania, Cargill is the champion.

Even though a match with Flair is not happening right now, it is almost bound to happen sometime in the future, since WWE has teased it on a few occasions.
