James Dickens vs Anthony Cacace – Results and Post-Fight Report

Anthony Cacace became a two-time world champion, dethroning James Dickens.

He became WBA world champion in Dublin after a unanimous decision victory over Dickens.

The three judges all gave it to Cacace with the cards reading: 115-113, 116-112, 116-113.

The main event was razor-thin for the first four rounds of the fight, with each round being tough to call.

That flipped in the fifth when ‘The Apache’ began finding his range and had ‘Jazza Dickens’ hurt before a dominant round.

Dickens did well to pull the round back towards the end but it was still in favour of Cacace for the most part.

The sixth was similar to the early ones, with both men landing well and it being hard to call.

‘Apache’ likely edged the next few rounds before being caught in a nasty head clash in the ninth round.

Dickens made no mistake after the head clash and punished Cacace, who seemed unsettled going to his stool ahead of the 10th round.

The Liverpudlian looked the sharper and fitter of the two going into the final three rounds, despite appearing narrowly down on the cards.

Cacace did enough to pick up a decisive points victory over 12 rounds.

Pierce O’Leary vs Maxi Hughes

He made his early onslaught count, dropping Hughes in the fourth round, who looked set to be stopped; somehow the man from Doncaster heard the bell at the end of the fourth.

He continued to pile on the pressure in the fifth and what would be the final round of the contest. Hughes showed great heart to make it to the final bell but was forced to retire before the sixth.

‘Maximus’ could be heard in the corner stating: “I can’t f****** hear anything for f*** sake.”

O’Leary starred in his Irish homecoming, picking up the IBO world title and will look to continue his unbeaten run.

Ryan Garner was back in action for the first time following his big victory over Reece Bellotti last time out.

This fight was more of a run-out for the ‘Piranha’ as he took on Bielma. He made easy work of the Mexican, hurting him in the second round before forcing the referee to step in and end the contest in the third.
