United States based carrier JetBlue is expanding its capacity to Barbados from its Boston focus as of October with three weekly flights – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
In a release, Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill said this reflects the carrier’s commitment to Barbados and aligns with his vision of continued growth of the tourism sector.
“We are pleased to welcome JetBlue’s expansion from Boston Logan Airport – with three-weekly flights slated to commence towards the end of October 2024. This development dovetails with our desire to grow the US market and underscores their confidence and commitment to Barbados.
“JetBlue remains a trusted partner and this has been a strategic and deliberate effort to ensure sustainable growth for Barbados – both in arrivals and earnings,” he said.
Chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Andrea Franklin, said this increased capacity would create more opportunities for business out of New England.
“Barbados continues tobe in demand and our tourism offerings continue to appeal to visitors to our shores. These additional flights will support our growth during the peak winter season and provide ease of access for both core leisure passengers and members of our diaspora, many of whom have already signalled their interest in returning for We Gatherin’ 2025,” she said.
In recent years, the airline’s network strategy has focused on enhancing international markets, which has translated into current service to over 100 destinations throughout the US, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe. (PR)
