Kyle Connor scored the Jets’ lone goal, his 13th of the season. Eric Comrie made 14 saves before being pulled after the opening period, and Thomas Milic stopped 15 shots over the final two frames. Oh boy, plenty of bad stuff to dig into here.
Good start… until it wasn’t
Buffalo capitalized on the power play with Jason Zucker scoring his seventh, and only 18 seconds later some brutal defensive coverage left Bowen Byram free to cut up the left side and rip one past Comrie’s shoulder to make it 2-0.
That was two goals on three shots for Buffalo.
Momentum didn’t last
The Jets finally got on the board 11:26 into the second when Connor redirected a Josh Morrissey one-timer from the point to make it 3-1. You’d think maybe Winnipeg could build off that.
KC’s 13th of the season 🚨
But just over a minute later, Alex Tuch beat Milic to restore Buffalo’s three-goal lead at 4-1, and that was pretty much it.
Lowry holds a postgame meeting
The Jets’ room stayed closed longer than usual after the game. Head coach Scott Arniel told Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press that captain Adam Lowry held a team meeting.
Connor was asked what was said.
