The Ryan family has a long history with the Jets, and the team is adding another chapter.

The Jets are hiring Seth Ryan, the son of Rex and grandson of Buddy, as their new passing game coordinator, according to a source.

Seth Ryan, 31, has been on the Lions’ staff since 2021.

He was the team’s assistant tight ends coach last year and had been assistant wide receivers coach before that.

He worked for the Chargers in 2019-20 as a quality control coach.

Ryan’s father Rex served as Jets head coach from 2009-14 and led them to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009-10, the team’s last trips to the playoffs.

Buddy Ryan was the Jets defensive line coach from 1968-75, a member of the Super Bowl III coaching staff, before gaining fame as the Bears defensive coordinator and then head coach of the Eagles and Cardinals.

The Jets hired Frank Reich to be their new offensive coordinator this week, and they are filling out the offensive staff.

This hire has head coach Aaron Glenn’s fingerprints on it since he worked with Ryan in Detroit.

The team also hired Alfredo Roberts as their tight ends coach, a source confirmed.

He had been the Steelers tight ends coach since 2021.
