The NFL has been working to increase its international game schedule over the past few years. After starting international game play in London over a decade ago, the NFL has now played games in Brazil, Spain, and Germany. This year, they are also expanding play to Paris, France.
These international games give plenty of opportunities for international fans to place bets at sports betting UK and other popular online casinos.
In 2025, Spain hosted its first NFL game when the Miami Dolphins played the Washington Commanders. This year, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid will see the Atlanta Falcons host a yet unannounced opponent.
Could the New York Jets be the Atlanta Falcons opponent in Spain during the 2026 NFL season?
The Falcons, as the home team in this game, will lose one of their games in Atlanta. While the 2026 NFL schedule has not yet been announced, the Falcons home opponents have already been released.
The teams that are supposed to visit Atlanta, whether it be in Georgia or Spain, are the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Unfortunately for international fans of the New York Jets, they are not on this list. This means, of course, that they will not be the Falcons opponent in Spain this year.
Per Jets insider Jack Bell, two more likely opponents would be the Bears and Chiefs. Back on February 9, before the Falcons were revealed to be the host team in Spain, he wrote, “The Bears and the Chiefs, who each have marketing rights to the Spanish city as part of the league’s international program, could host a game at the Santiago Bernabeú Stadium, home of the global soccer giant Real Madrid C.F. (The Miami Dolphins also have marketing rights in Madrid, but played a game there last season.) The league recently signed a multiyear deal to play a game in that country’s capital city.”
Based on the international host teams that have already been announced, it does not appear that New York will play a game overseas this year. There are no confirmed host teams that are on the Jets away schedule this season.
That being said, there is a chance that New York will play in Spain in 2027. As mentioned previously, the Kansas City Chiefs have a business agreement with the city of Madrid. Next year, the Jets will play the entire AFC West division, and there is a possibility that Kansas City will be selected to host a game in Spain next season. If they do, the Jets would be one of the teams that could join them as the visiting team.
