Jim Ross Gives His Honest Opinion On Joe Tessitore Joining WWE RAW As A Commentator

WWE is known to revamp its television product every now and then with makeshift changes to keep the fans hooked and make it exciting to watch each week. Most recently, WWE brought in ESPN veteran Joe Tessitore as the play-by-play commentator for its flagship show, Monday Night RAW. This led to a former RAW announcer giving his take on Tessitore’s latest hire.

Which former RAW announcer gave his take on Joe Tessitore’s latest WWE hire as a commentator?

On the recent edition of his own podcast, Grillin with JR, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross opened up about Joe Tessitore becoming the new commentator on RAW. Ross believed that Tessitore had a good hand at the job, but also stated that fans would not appreciate if a name is pronounced wrong, but justified that it is a human error that anyone can do.

“Tessitore is a solid hand, a good announcer. My only question is… how much product knowledge can he acquire in a short length of time? Wrestling fans are picky with announcing, they know what they like, don’t like. When you mispronounce or say the wrong name, whatever… we act like it’s a federal crime. It isn’t, it’s just human error. This game is done by humans, the last I looked,”

Furthermore, Jim Ross also stated that Joe Tessitore would take at least a year to get comfortable in the broadcast booth at WWE and find his own unique style and confidence, which could also come in three to six months, considering his experience in the media business.

“I think it’ll take him a year to get his feet on the ground, get comfortable in his setting. I might be overstating it… he may be a quick study, and it’s six or three months, but it’ll take him some time to get in a groove, find your timing… announcing is all about timing, in my opinion,”

With Joe Tessitore’s tenure in WWE off to a great start on RAW, we will have to wait and see how he does in his new role in the global juggernaut.
