On Tuesday (October 8), English cricketer Joe Root, the current number one batter in the ICC Test Rankings, made an astonishing achievement by becoming the only batter in the history of Test cricket to score 5000 runs in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Root who holds the record for the most runs in the history of WTC has 12434 runs and in his current test match against pakistan if he scores at least 39 runs in the first innings then he will be the highest run-scorer in Test matches for England beating Alastair Cook’s record.

The record for most Test hundreds is held by Sachin Tendulkar (51 in 200 tests) while the next after him are Jacques Kallis (45), Ricky Ponting (41), Kumar Sangakkara (38) and Rahul Dravid (36)

Moreover, a total of 102 runs in the first Test at Multan Cricket Stadium will also assist the former England skipper in becoming the first batter in the world to accumulate a minimum of 1500 runs in all three editions of the World Test Championship.
