The white-ball captain of England’s cricket team Jos Buttler has been reinstated into the team for the white-ball series against the West Indies, as the ECB released their squad on Wednesday, October 2nd. Surprisingly, Buttler’s absence was due to a calf injury he sustained during the last home series with Australia where young Harry Brook captained England in his absence.
But unmistakable, his first stint as a captain was not one to remember, for his team lost the series 2-3. Besides Buttler, another player who has made it to the squad is Jafer Chohan, a leg-spinner who has also received his first call up to play for England
At such a young age, he has already played 23 games and taken 22 wickets. John Turner who is a fast bowler and Dan Mousley a spin all rounder are the only other uncapped players in the squad.
Turner who has also toured the Caribbean last December has so far claimed 35 and 42 wickets in his List A and T20 careers respectively. On the other hand, Mousley was included in the last ODI series against Australia and has a lot of T20 experience scoring 1100 runs and taking 50 wickets in 63 matches.
As of now, the ECB has announced a 14 member squad for the tour, however two more members of the team will be named prior to England’s third Test against Pakistan which is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi on October 24.
The England team will thus proceed for a three-match ODI series against the West Indies and then five T20 matches. The one day international series will take place starting from October 31 and the first two ODIs will be held at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua whereas the third T20I will be hosted at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
The T20I series will begin from November 09 with the first two matches set to be played in Barbados while the remaining three matches will be hosted by Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
