Josh Kerr made a strong return to track action in his first race since the World Champs.

The double Olympic medallist was second in the two-mile race at the Millrose Games in New York.

Across the weekend, and mainly in America, there were a number of fine performances by Scots.

Josh of course was injured in the Men’s 1500m final in Tokyo so this was a solid run to come home in 8:07.68 as Cole Hocker took the win. Jake Wightman was at 8:20.15 in the same race.

Also at the Millrose Games, Jemma Reekie ran a PB for 1000m with 2:37.15 (improving her own time from 2:39.74). Eloise Walker ran a 300m PB with 8:42.88.

The weekend had started with good news from New Mexico as Rebecca Grieve ran a Scottish Best over 600m indoos. Rebecca clocked 1:25.06to better the time set by Kirsten McAslan (1:26.33).

A day or so later, also in the States, Oliver Patton of Kilbarchan became the latest Scot to run a sub four-minute mile with 3:59.18.

*Over in Japan, Eilish McColgan came up with the third fastest half marathon of her career.

Eilish finished second in the Kagawa Marugame Half with 67:08 as she continued her preparations for the London Marathon in April.
