As Australia gets ready to face India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, pacer Josh Hazlewood expressed his relief over Cheteshwar Pujara as he is not present for the upcoming five-match series.
“I am pretty happy that Cheteshwar Pujara is not around this time. He’s someone who spends a lot of time out there, and tires out the bowlers. But the depth in Indian cricket is pretty good and the younger guys have a lot of talent as well,” said Hazelwood in the pre-match press.
Pujara gave his last appearance in Test match during the ICC World Test Championship finals against Australia last year, a match that India lost. Pujara is known for his resilience as a middle-order batter from the early 2010s to the early 2020s.
Pujara has amassed 7,195 runs in 103 Tests at an impressive average of 43.60, which includes 19 centuries and 35 fifties. His highest score ever posted was unbeaten at 206.
