Josh Inglis shatters this all-time record for Australia against Scotland

On September 6, 2023, Josh Inglis of Australia became the first person ever to score a century in less than 43 balls while playing against Scotland in the second T20I match of that year. Josh Inglis ended up making history by becoming the fastest T20I hundred for an Australian batter.

Scotland won the toss and opted to bowl first. Their bowlers started off strongly with Bradley Currie taking two early wickets including the important one of Travis Head who got out for a duck on his first ball. Nevertheless, this was when Inglis formed a 92-run partnership with Cameron Green that lifted Australia’s innings from its earlier slump. Furthermore, Inglis being aggressive right from the start helped them to recover while on the other hand Cameron Green was more of a support player. However, Currie managed to break their stand but Inglis seemed not ready to relent as he kept attacking Scottish bowlers.

Unbelievably, Inglis positioned himself towards yet another upcoming T20I century by hitting an incredible 43-ball ton establishing new records of fastest T20I centuries for Australia. His celebration evoked emotions that triggered electrifying response from spectators when he raised his bat in jubilation after making this great knock which eventually saw him retire to the pavilion following his dismissal. Through such phenomenal displays of batting, Australia got 196 runs at 6 wickets within their limited assignable time range encompassing only twenty more overs to come.

Scotland’s best bowler throughout the day was Bradley Currie but regardless of everything he did Australia came close to achieving or surpassing 200 scoreline boundary. Last over cameo from Tim David outdid everything else ensuring that Australians would have a good fight with a total score of 196

Although the hosts bowled impressively towards death, they restricted Australia from getting 210 or 220 runs which seemed possible when they scored 144/3 in 14 overs. With this feat, Inglis became the fastest Australian to make a T20I hundred disregarding previous records held by Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.
