Juventus Poised to End Search for a New Executive

Juventus will complete the overhaul of their management just before the start of the January window, hiring one of the early favorites for the vacant sporting director role, Marco Ottolini. The Bianconeri had been considering him since Damien Comolli became the new apical official back in the spring, Mediaset informs.

The exec worked at Genoa at the time, and the Bianconeri didn’t force it. However, he and the Rossoblù parted ways amid a slump, which led to the firing of Patrick Vieira and the arrival of Daniele De Rossi, and because his extension talks weren’t progressing.

Juventus evaluated a few foreign options but eventually went back to square one and reached an agreement with Ottolini. He already worked in their scouting department and youth academy between 2018 and 2022.

The 45-year-old briefly played for Brescia and was a transfer market operator from 2002 to 2015. He spent time at Anderlecht before being poached by the Bianconeri three years later. He handled the Club 15, a network of collaborations with European and American sides to develop talents and create international synergies.

Genoa onboarded him as their director in 2022. He helped them return to Serie A and stay there, and contributed to the signings and sales of Josep Martinez, Koni De Winter, Radu Dragusin, Mateo Retegui, and Albert Gudmundsson, among others, Goal relays.

Ottolini will be the fourth high-ranking official joining Juventus in a relatively short amount of time after the ousting of Cristiano Giuntoli and his aides. In addition to Comolli, who has recently been promoted to CEO, the Bianconeri have also brought in François Modesto as the head of the technical area and Darren Burgess as the director of performance.
