Kabras RFC reclaimed the Great Rift 10s title following a dominant 21-0 victory over hosts Nakuru RFC in the final staged at Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday evening.
Heading into the clash, Kabras RFC, under the guidance of coach Ntabeni Dukisa, were making their third consecutive appearance in the final. They lifted the 2024 title and finished runners-up in 2025 after falling to Menengai Oilers, marking a strong run since the tournament’s return post-COVID.
To reach the final, Kabras had to grind out a hard-fought 5-0 extra-time win over Menengai Oilers, while Nakuru RFC secured their place with a 12-0 victory over KCA University in the semis.
Kabras made a dream start in the final, with Adrian Kwesa, who has been in scintillating try-scoring form, breaking from his own half and racing clear for a try, which he converted to give his side a 7-0 lead.
EDITOR’S PICKS:
They were later dealt a setback when Mike Okello was sin-binned, temporarily reducing Kabras to nine men. However, the numerical disadvantage did little to slow them down. Levis Ochieng capitalized from a lineout, picking the ball cleanly and sprinting through for a converted try that extended the lead to 14-0.
Kabras continued to assert their dominance, with Roy Maruti slicing through the defense to score their third try, pushing the score to 21-0.
The second half saw no change to the scoreboard as Kabras RFC maintained their defensive solidity, going on to complete the tournament without conceding a single point. The victory secured their second Great Rift 10s title in three years, underlining their continued dominance on the domestic scene.
