In the face of potential protests during India’s second Test match against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has shared their plans for the upcoming game, which was scheduled to take place at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
According to a report from SportsTak, the BCCI has stated that there will be no changes to the schedule, and the second Test in Kanpur will proceed as originally planned. The Indian Cricket Board is working closely with relevant authorities to monitor the situation.
A BCCI source said, “Yes, we are keeping an eye on the situation along with the concerned authorities regarding these threats. We have done everything necessary to hold the match, and the stadium is ready to host both our team and visitors. The match will still be in Kanpur, but we will continue to monitor the situation not just in Kanpur but also at other venues.”
The second Test match in Kanpur faced a potential disruption from a protest by the Hindu Mahasabha against the visiting Bangladesh team, due to the political unrest in their country.
On the cricket front, Bangladesh is keen to maintain their winning streak after securing a 2-0 series win against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Key players such as Shakib Al Hasan have chosen to play county cricket to prepare for the upcoming series against India, led by Rohit Sharma.
For the Indian team, Rishabh Pant is expected to return to Test cricket, completing his comeback after recovering from injuries sustained in a serious accident.
Although there were earlier reports suggesting that India might rest Jasprit Bumrah, the team has decided to include him in the upcoming games, taking a cautious approach regarding the World Test Championship.
Some well-known players are coming back to the team, including Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Kohli took a long break because his second child was born, and Rahul, who played in the home series against England, had to leave early because of an injury.
