Karnataka Appoints New Coach for Upcoming Domestic Season

The state cricket organization announced on Thursday that former hitter K Yere Goud would be rejoining as head coach of the Karnataka men’s cricket team for the forthcoming domestic season.

Goud took over for PV Shashikanth, who led the squad for two seasons starting in 2022.

Goud had formerly coached the senior team for four seasons starting in 2018 while serving as the coach of the state under-23 team.

The 52-year-old led the Karnataka U-23 squad to the CK Nayudu Trophy victory this year, which is a first for the state team’s history.

The state’s top officials now hope that Goud, who has 134 first-class match experience for Railways and Karnataka, can continue that winning streak with the senior team.

Karnataka had advanced to the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy semifinals in the 2023–24 season.

Mansur Ali Khan, a former state pacer, will stay on as the bowling coach.

J Abhiram, a former hitter who recently led the Indian team on a white-ball tour to Zimbabwe, will continue to chair the senior men’s selection committee.

Karuna Jain, a former batter for India, has been named head coach of the state’s under-23 and senior women’s teams.
