Karun Nair gets run out at non-striker’s end for three-ball duck vs RR

The hero of the last match for Delhi Capitals Karun Nair found himself just short of the crease at the non-striker’s end to get out for a three-ball duck during Match 32 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between DC and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, April 16. Notably, Karun was coming off a sensational 89-run knock off 40 deliveries.

An inside edge off Abishek Porel’s bat went towards backward point after deflecting off his leg. Karun had already trotted off for the single, but was later sent back. The ball was thrown to Sandeep Sharma, the bowler, who further went onto throw the ball onto the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Replays showed that the batter was just short of making it safely.

Karun’s dismissal was the second wicket to fall for DC. The first one was opener, Jake Fraser-McGurk. A short-of-a-length delivery by Jofra Archer rushed onto the batter, who went for a wild swing of the bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal gobbled a straighforward opportunity at extra cover. DC were off to a flying start with Porel leading proceedings with a bang.

Earlier in the evening, RR won the toss and opted to field first. Both teams went unchanged into this fixture. DC’s previous game was a 12-run loss against Mumbai Indians at home. On the other hand, RR were comprehensively defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in an afternoon game by a resounding nine-wicket margin. DC and RR have won four and two games in IPL 2025, respectively.
