The men’s basketball transfer portal won’t officially open until next week, but The Field of 68 reports that Merrimack big man KC Ugwuakazi intends to enter once it does.
Ugwuakazi earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors this past season, anchoring Merrimack’s interior with an efficient and disruptive presence. While his offensive numbers were modest — 5.2 points per game — his impact showed up where it mattered most. He ranked No. 19 nationally with 2.2 blocks per game, doing so in just 18.9 minutes per night off the bench.
A Massachusetts native, Ugwuakazi began his collegiate career at East Texas A&M Lions men’s basketball, where he spent two seasons before transferring to Merrimack.
