Kenny Omega Appears At Capcom Cup 12, Konosuke Takeshita Headed To NJPW

Konosuke Takeshita will be heading to NJPW for the New Japan Cup Finals later this month. The promotion announced on Tuesday that the NJPW World Television Champion will appear at the event, scheduled for March 21 in Niigata, Japan.

Takeshita captured the NJPW World Television Championship from El Phantasmo at NJPW ‘The New Beginning USA’ on February 27.

You can check out the official announcement below:

“At New Beginning USA in Trenton NJ on February 27, Konosuke Takeshita captured the NJPW World TV Championship after his title match with El Phantasmo went into overtime at the request of the former champ, and the Alpha put away ELP with Raging Fire.

“March 21 will see Takeshita bring the title belt to Japan for the first time, as he will be in action at the New Japan Cup final! What does Takeshita have planned for his first Japanese appearance in NJPW since New Year Dash?”

Kenny Omega made a special appearance at Capcom Cup 12 on Tuesday, showing up dressed as Alex — the character he performed motion capture work for in Street Fighter 6.

The downloadable content featuring Alex is scheduled to be released on March 17.

Omega previously revealed his involvement with the game on January 21, writing, “Incredibly happy to announce that I’ve done some big mocap work as Alex in Street Fighter 6. Can’t wait for you all to see more, he’s my favorite character in Street Fighter.”

Omega was last seen in action on the February 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he was defeated by Swerve Strickland. Following the match, Strickland attacked Omega and drove him through the announce table with a vertebreaker.

At this time, there is no word on when Omega will return to AEW television.
