Kenny Omega just named what he believes is the greatest wrestling video game ever, and longtime fans of classic wrestling titles will probably recognize the choice.
Omega was taking part in a video for Fall Damage where he tried to guess famous lines from video games. After correctly identifying a quote from Undertale, the conversation shifted into his favorite games of all time. That naturally led to wrestling games, where Omega didn’t hesitate to name one title that still stands above the rest in his eyes.
While talking about games that stuck with him over the years, Omega pointed to one classic Japanese release that he believes still hasn’t been topped. He explained that the game stood out because of its deep roster and gameplay that mixed wrestling and MMA-style mechanics.
“Oh my god. And you know what? It’s like one of my favorite games of all time. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, I would say, is the best wrestling game of all time. Both for the roster and for the wrestling and mixed martial art mechanics to it.”
Omega’s take is likely to spark debate among wrestling gamers, especially those who grew up playing titles from the AKI engine era. Many fans still look back at those games as the gold standard, even with modern wrestling games continuing to evolve.
Kenny Omega has always been tied closely to gaming culture, so hearing him name his top wrestling game is the kind of statement that gets fans talking — especially when it involves a classic many still swear by today.
