Kenny Omega might be a fighting game icon and pro wrestling megastar, but even he can’t be in two places at once—and that’s exactly the problem heading into AEW Revolution 2026.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, Omega is locked into a major esports event in Japan during the exact weekend AEW Revolution takes place. The former AEW World Champion is set to appear at Capcom Cup 12 in Tokyo—a five-day Street Fighter 6 tournament with a staggering $1 million prize on the line.
The tournament runs March 11–15, with AEW Revolution scheduled for Sunday, March 15, in Los Angeles. That alone wouldn’t be a deal-breaker, but Omega is officially confirmed for meet-and-greet events on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and the Cup’s finals typically occur on the final day—the same day as Revolution.
Even though there’s a 10-hour direct flight from Tokyo to L.A., and the time zone difference works in Omega’s favor, the logistics are brutal. A same-day international hop from Japan to the U.S. just to make the show is a massive gamble with almost zero room for error. So far, it’s unclear whether Omega will leave Japan early, or skip Revolution entirely to remain with the Capcom community through the finals.
This potential absence lands right after Omega’s title hopes were crushed on Dynamite, where he lost out on a shot at the AEW World Championship. With his Revolution main event spot gone and this travel conflict in play, there’s growing speculation that Omega may not appear on the card at all.
Omega’s connection to the Street Fighter franchise is long-standing. He’s done motion capture for Street Fighter 6 and is deeply respected in the fighting game world. His presence at Capcom Cup isn’t just a celebrity appearance—it’s personal.
If he does make the trip back, it would require a grueling travel schedule and a huge commitment to appear even briefly at Revolution. At this point, nothing’s confirmed—but fans in Los Angeles might have to get through the show without “The Cleaner” showing up at all.
