The Denver Broncos haven’t been shy about their need at tight end. Broncos HC Sean Payton said as much last season, indicating his team was looking for more production from that position. While the Broncos could explore the trade market or scour free agency for that, their best bet at finding a difference-making tight end is in the draft, and there’s one tight end standing above the rest right now: Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq.
Sadiq is the consensus top tight end in this class and the connection between him and the Broncos picking at No. 30 has been made for some time. But Sadiq’s stock will only rise after the historic performance he had on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine, and the demand for his services may push him higher up the board than where the Broncos are picking.
With a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, Sadiq set the all-time record for tight ends. He measured in at 6-3, 241 pounds, with 31.5-inch arms and 10-inch hands. He jumped 43.5 inches in the vertical and 11-feet-1-inch in the broad. That is a simply absurd level of athleticism for the tight end position, and Denver should be excited about the prospect of drafting him.
Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq on His Meeting With the Denver Broncos and His Impression of OC Davis Webb

On Friday, after his meeting with the Broncos, Sadiq spoke with The Denver Post about his Combine experience and his first impressions of the Broncos coaching staff.
“Just seeing how much ball I know, seeing what kind of person I am,” Sadiq said on how Broncos OC Davis Webb conducted the interview. “But no, it was a good conversation, a lot of laughter, a lot of stuff going on.”
Webb is a rising star in the coaching ranks, getting a lot of interest from other teams as a potential head coach, even though he served as Denver’s quarterbacks coach last year and has only been coaching for a few years. Payton actually jettisoned his longtime offensive coordinator to promote Webb and retain him, handing Webb playcalling duties for next season — a rare distinction under Payton.
N.C. State WR KC Concepcion and Alabama WR Germie Bernard both echoed Sadiq’s thoughts on Webb, with Concepcion saying Webb was testing his football knowledge and love of the game.
“We were just breaking down film,” Bernard said on Webb. “He was getting to know — picking my brain a little bit, seeing what I knew.”
Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq Has a Unique Connection to the Denver Broncos
One thing that could help Sadiq transition to the NFL if he gets drafted by the Broncos? He already knows Denver QB Bo Nix, as the two overlapped at Oregon for a year in 2023.
Of course, if the Broncos want to draft Sadiq, they may not be able to stand pat at No. 30. There are other great tight end prospects in this draft, but none have Sadiq’s combination of freaky athleticism and insane upside. If the Broncos want him, they may need to trade up to make sure they get him.
